Real Sus Dave: The Story of "David Cavalli"
Real Sus Dave: The Story of "David Cavalli"
David Cavalli, who called himself "Real Super Dave" or "RSD," came onto the DGV scene August of 2021 and immediately made himself known with videos, disc designs, jokes, and a willingness to answer any question he happened upon. People had phone conversations with him, and a member of the DGV community actually met "Dave" in real life.
He was very active in the Disc Golf Valley Players Page group on Facebook posting daily and commenting/liking most posts. After a couple years, he joined the DGV Tips group as an admin and continued the same efforts making all the stamp designs for the Around the Valley events.
Examples of RSD's artistic style on in-game discs.
On April 23rd, 2024, Al Farrow of the DGV Tips group received an email with this obituary image from an unnamed "representative of the asphalt company." This was obviously shocking news about a well known member of the DGV community, and Al posted the image with the caption: "I just received this from a representative of the asphalt company. I am in shock right now, at a loss for words. RIP RSD."
A few people noticed it has some very odd details and typos they'd never seen in an obit before:
"no surviving children or family members"
mention of mobile gaming
"Born August of 1981" means he would only be 42, not 43 "year's"
Initial searches for "Asphalt Mafia" only returned a months-old company in Louisiana that hadn't even started doing work yet.
There were no returns for an obituary for Dave outside of this image anywhere online and no mention of the ceremony in Mapleville, NC. In fact, there are no traces of David Edward Cavalli anywhere online. The name returns no hits including the PDGA directory which contradicts one of RSD's claims of:
playing disc golf professionally in the '90s
having a 990+ rating
being a TD for 7 PDGA sanctioned events
When Al followed up with the person who sent him the obituary image asking if he could possibly track down some of RSD's artwork, he received this:
While it’s possible Dave was the last surviving member, this email also references “The Cavalli Family” despite the obit saying Dave had none.
When asked how this person knew to send the obit to Alf, they replied that they simply sent it out to Dave’s entire contact list, but other people who have had email correspondence with Dave did not receive the email. They claimed to have Dave’s tablet and phones and were easily able to send Alf files of Dave’s DGV-related art.
For the most part, everyone took the obituary as truth, and there were many tributes to Dave and loving messages. Spinoff even made a commemorative DOTW in his honor and made a post about him on their social media:
OneReal Gaming Starts Raising Red Flags
Another event happened on April 23, 2024 - the same day Alf received the obituary: An account called "OneReal Gaming" joined both the DGVPP and the DGV Tips page and began posting “RIP RSD” pictures and reacting to all RSD “in memoriam” posts. OneReal also began answering questions and giving advice in a very RSD-way.
OneReal Gaming’s YouTube presence was very new, only a month old, and only posted videos of Angry Birds 2. The videos have a similar RSD style with backing music and the maker’s watermark logo (which happens to use the same LuckiestGuy font from DGV) to the side.
Suspiciously, Angry Birds 2 held a special place in RSD’s heart as it was his gaming passion before DGV. Here are chat messages where he references co-founding an Angry Birds 2 group and saying that he spent over $14k on the game. Curious that OneReal Gaming would specialize in both of RSD’s games. (This is also where you can see he claimed to have been TD for 7 PDGA C-Tiers).
OneReal Gaming’s art has very similar styling to RSD’s as well here are some samples:
A May 4th tribute with the same background effect RSD used on the Alf disc design among others.
Post with RSD's beloved "GlowBreaker"
OneReal even had enough awareness of who Joose Korhonen was to make a meme shirt design for him after only being in the DGV community for less than 2 weeks. Joose said he does not know who this person is, and the design style uses the same filter as other RSD designs did.
OneReal Gaming continued to post on the Angry Birds 2 Gamers page after getting booted from the DGV FB groups. Here's another May 4th Star Wars image using the same filter and font as other RSD posts.
This was all curious and coincidental enough behavior that people started looking into the situation a bit more. RSD's DGV playerID was known through historical event results. Multiplayer Season 7 began on April 26, 2024, one week after Dave's announced date of death and 3 days after Alf's obit announcement. RSD's playerID had been active in MPS7 for over 100 games with activity going through May 5th. It also played in the May 3rd, 2024, VDDO under the changed name of "FLYHIGHRSD." This means Dave's account was somehow still active AFTER his death announcement! Once this discovery was made, there was enough of a "smoking gun" to really set off the hunt for answers.
OneReal Gaming's YouTube has the name "Dan Culp" associated with it. A Daniel Culp died in a motorcycle crash in North Carolina in August of 2021, the same month RSD joined the DGV Community. Dan Culp's cause of death matches RSD's with a crash, taken to hospital, died of injuries later. The OneReal Gaming FB account deleted all its activity but the YT account remained active .
Over the 2-3 weeks of this initial speculation, David Cavalli's Facebook account (which was immediately deactivated upon his "death") was switching back and forth from being "active" and "inactive" which was evident via Facebook's "last active ___ hours ago" feature. Someone related to the DGV community had access to a database to confirm that no person named "David Edward Cavalli" has ever existed in North Carolina where he was supposedly born and lived. At that point, Al decided to go back on the DGV Tips Page and announce that the whole thing was a faked death.
David Cavalli's Life before Disc Golf Valley
After seeing OneReal Gaming active in the Angry Birds 2 Facebook group, I started digging and found a lot of old activity from Dave there including several people who seemed to interact with him regularly. I reached out to a few of them and learned more about "David Cavalli"
RSD met his ex-wife playing Angry Birds in 2020 after only knowing each other for 5 months. Their short engagement was followed by a short marriage.
Nobody from his Angry Birds playing days knows his real name. They speculate he chose the last name "Cavalli" as a play on Henry Cavill who plays Super Man in the DC movies. DC may also influence his Dave Cavalli / Dan Culp initial preference. Daniel Stark's last name could be inspired by Tony Stark from Ironman.
While I wasn't able to connect with RSD's ex-wife, who appears in some of his YT videos, someone who previously knew said she was totally "over" him, as he "did a number on her," but she's committed to not sharing his real name. "I promised him I'd take it to my grave" - a weird request to make of anyone. She doesn't believe Dave died either and said "It's just like him to do something like [fake his death]."
RSD used a FB account called "Mr-Dee Cee" for a lot of posting in the Angry Birds group. That account seems to still be active at the time of the controversial "death" and has a Disc Golf Valley banner.
RSD does have living family: a sister.
An Angry Birds group post about getting married to another player. They were quickly divorced.
RSD Sightings Beyond the Grave
After Al decided to publicize the ruse, the DGV community understandably lit up with speculation and reaction. Included in that speculation were the occasional defenders of RSD like "Daniel Stark" here. Daniel referenced the name "Soup" which was never used in the DGV community, but it was his Angry Birds name.
Daniel Stark also commented on the official DGV "in memorium" post, but then immediately left the DGVPP, failed to respond to DMs, and disappeared from Facebook. Daniel Stark joined David Cavalli and OneReal Gaming as the 3rd suspicious account that was likely run by the same person.
On May 10th, only a few days after AlF's "totally bonkers" reveal, a brand new Discord account called GTSilva joined the GDG server and within minutes started pointing to RSD posts. They wouldn't respond to DMs and never returned to the server after getting called out. This was account #4.
September 9, 2024, 5 months after the "Death"
An account called LoanMe1YouKnowMe started posting YT and FB videos about DGV.
New account, backing music, YT watermark, no real name given, bagging almost exclusively paid discs.
This account was also very active in the Angry Birds FB group. The FB account stayed active, but the YT account was deleted.

The original RSD YouTube account posted a video! It was of MM93's -18 run through Ikigai Enso. This is the 1st obviously public activity from one of the intially-known David Cavalli web properties. A resurrection!
January 18, 2025
A new account named "Justin Daway" joins the GDG server to submit for the H&H Simon Line challenge that coincides with the Simon Lizotte interview.
The video "Justin" submits has the familiar RSD image filter, the font used in Angry Birds 2, and similar backing music.
The account immediately adds the "Sidebar" role to review the #Real-Sus-Dave channel, but doesn't add any other roles. No response to DMS.

Eddie Edwards had started to become a more active member of the DGV Tips page, and the daredevil name, the lack of profile history and pictures, and the style of posts started to make me skeptical.
I started looking at his posts and didn't have to look very long before finding some familiar names!
A 6-year-old post from "Eddie" tagged a buddy who then replied "I love it Dave Cavalli!" Facebook's historical tagging has the tendency to pull in older names after an account's name has been changed. Turns out "Eddie Edwards" was once "Dave Cavalli!"
Looking further into David Robinett's account I found that he listed his employer as "ASPHALT MAFIA" - the same name as the employer from RSD's obituary!
RSD admiring his own ALF design.
RSD getting ALF to talk about his stamp design.
ALF rewarding flattery with flattery and gifting "Eddie" a disc with RSD's design on it.

I checked out Eddie Edward's playerID for his MaybeBueno account, and it matched LoanMe1UKnowMe (Account #5) and produced another hit as BogeyYerra.
Eddie Edward was perhaps the most official resurrection account I came across.

So, I read Greg’s update from the 13th and the David Robinett fellow caught my eye seeing how he was from Oklahoma. So, I started stalking his FB.
I noticed he was posting pictures of the same or similar “Asphalt Mafia” jobs that they had done. I started looking at the people who were commenting and seeing names pop up over and over. I got the idea to reach out to about 5 different people that I concluded were co-workers of RSD. No one responded.
I then started reaching out to people who had commented on Eddie Edwards’ posts. Only one response from a woman in OK whom RSD has shacked up with for a couple weeks in 2019. She knew him as “Super Dave” and David “Cavalli” as well. And said she had been calling hospitals when he didn’t turn up one day. A close “friend” of Dave (more than likely Dave himself) reached out to her to tell her to stop looking and that he was fine. Another dead end.
I then joined the Angry Birds 2 group that he was a member of and reached out to the people who commented about his death. They were upset that I did so and were annoyed that I was bringing up “triggering” memories that they were trying to put behind them. I guess Angry Birds players aren’t built like DGV players I reached out to his “ex wife”, but got no response from her as well.
So after hitting a dead end, I revisited Robinette’s profile. I saw one comment where someone had asked him who he was working for, he said the Asphalt Mafia and Tommy Carroll. Upon googling Tommy Caroll I was met with stories about how the Attorney General of Wyoming had run his business out of the state for “predatory” business practices. The comments of the news story were denouncing “gypsy pavers” and how they take advantage of old people. I imagine you are a lot like me and have no clue what gypsy pavers are… well here is a snippet from Google that explains it pretty well.
The reason why there is no business called Asphalt Mafia now makes perfect sense. RSD works for a gypsy crew that wonders around the country and scams people then skips town. Knowing this I changed up my tactics.
I looked at his obit one more time for clues. The best lies always contain some truths. Given the fact that his FB account changed its name from Dave Cavalli to Eddie Edwards, I assumed that Edward was his real middle name. We also knew from Gregs interactions with the AB group, that Dave was his real first name. So I decided that if the crew got into trouble in Wyoming that I would search google with “David Edward” arrest (insert state here). I searched all the neighboring states and didn’t find anything. I did notice however that I kept getting results for cases for others who were not the correct age, but nearly every post just used middle initials. So I repeated the searches again and upon searching “David E.” arrest Idaho I was scrolling thru the images and noticed this:
Now this picture caught my attention, and I compared it to a pic of Dave. Looked pretty similar. So I read the article. David E. Stadler had been arrested in Idaho Falls after an attempted dine and dash in September of 2016. Interesting.
Now I have a last name so I can search court databases. I then struck the motherlode when I found a case from Wisconsin (a place they were posting pictures from their asphalt job) involving a David Edward Stadler being arrested for possession of Meth. Also I just so happened to notice a familiar name in the case notes:
That’s right, Mr. Stadler was bailed out by one D. Robinett, then skipped town leading to a bench warrant being put out for him.
Also Stadler put his address as a KC address which returns a homeless shelter, one that happens to be the only address Stadler has claimed since 2012. The preliminary hearing also made note of the fact that Stadler has several warrants from several different states when deciding the bond amount. Turns out we are about to learn exactly what type of man Mr. Stadler is. Upon further research I was able to uncover the following charges and timeline:
2000
Marijuana charges
2003
Civil case involving eviction and repayment of money owed
Marijuana charge
Paraphernalia charge
2006
Fraudulent Check Trespassing
2007
Defrauding an Innkeeper
2008
Felony Larceny
2013
Theft of Service (court fines totaling $50,000)
And of course our dine and dash and recent meth bust
So lets paint the picture of this troubled man:
David Edward Stadler has been in trouble with the law since his teens. In my opinion, Stadler has spent his entire life scamming and manipulating people. He is proud to be a gypsy paver who takes advantage elderly and disadvantaged people. He uses people for a place to stay then crafts some crazy story when it’s time for him to move on. He struggles from substance abuse. He is pathological liar who makes his way into online communities in an attempt to live out fantasy scenarios. He always is the founder of this, or the TD of this tournament, “super” Dave, pdga touring professional. Stadler is a classic case of personality disorder. He likely lives these grandiose fantasy lives trying to escape from his reality.
TLDR; Real Super Dave Cavalli is a homeless man named David Edward Stadler. He is a gypsy asphalt layer who scams people to fund his drug addiction. And he copes with this by taking advantage of online communities trust to make himself out to be this larger than life “Super” hero.
Here’s to you Real Super Stadler!
